Acts 29…The Spirit’s Work In You!

Thanks to all of you who participated in 28 Days In Acts! I was a great experience to read through the book of Acts with all of you via this electronic community.

Many of you have asked about our future plans to continue using this format as a venue for spiritual strengthening and encouragement.  While we don’t have any immediate plans to do so, we are working on some future ideas.  Here are two steps you can take for now:

  1. Continue to use this site to post any of the truths God is teaching you through your regular reading of the Bible.  We’d all love to continue to hear from everyone.
  2. Post your thoughts about ideas for future blogs by clicking on FUTURE IDEAS or on this link on the menu bar above.

Again, Thanks for your investment of time in God’s word and for sharing the Spirit’s words to you with our online community.

Upon This Rock,

Peter

    In God’s name

  3. I have ejoyed this so much. I think it is so helpful and insightful to receive view points from others on scriptures.
Barb Twigg and I have decided to continue doing this in April on the book of Romans. As Peter called it “Roaming thru Romans.” If anyone would like to join us on that let us know. I think we will be using this posting to continue. We had talked about using Face Book, but if this is available we may use this. Let us hear how others feel about continuing with Barb and me.
God bless all of you who ahve participated in this.

  4. I so enjoyed the study through Acts! It wasn’t my first time through–by a long shot (I have been a Christian for awhile!) But the Word is ever changing and ever more relevant no matter how many times I’ve read or studied. Reading Acts was an amazing blessing! I saw a more complete picture of the early church and related in new ways. I noticed how much early followers of the Way meant to each other, how they gathered so often to share a meal, to pray, to discuss, to encourage, and I am sure even to grieve. I noticed in chapter 12, that James brother of John was killed and how sad and terrible that must have been for them. They grieved (it’s part of being human) but they also praised and prayed and loved the Lord and each other! I got the big picture but I also got a more complete picture. I wanted to think about what I might have done had I been among them. In a fantasy world I’m Paul–but in reality I would have been part of the women who provided meals and warm and inviting homes to meet and share and pray. I would have served in whatever way I could. I would have used my time and resources and talents to meet needs and encourage. Somebody had to prepare the meals, let it be known that a meeting was coming up, make sure provisions were provided and most importantly pray. Great themes of joining for prayer, hospitality, fellowship, meeting physical, emotional and spiritual needs and growing deeper in love with the One who bought them and freed them! I grew a great respect and admiration for the women of the early church and I would have been honored to be among them! I became more appreciative of how God works things for good–who would have thought that prison would mean the great epistles!
It was a wonderful experience to go through Acts–and my prayer for myself (and all of us) is that I might allow the Word to change me–that I would not go away from this meaningful time and forget the great lessons God has Himself taught me– that I might put feet to my understanding!

    • Donna,
Great to read your awesome summary of your time in Acts. Please feel free to use this page to post additional insights from your time in God word with the rest of us in the days ahead.

  5. Matthew 26:41
Watch and pray that you will not fall into temptation.

While this is directed to Peter, James and John in the Garden, I feel it’s impact on me. Such a short phrase but oh the impact on daily life. It is so easy to let your defenses down and drift into sin and away from God’s protection.
Lord, please help me to watch and pray in everything I do. I want to stay centered in your way and not go astray.

  6. Psalm 1:But his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night.
Psalm 4:6-7 Many are asking, “Who can show us any good?” Let the light of your face shine upon us, O LORD. You have filled my heart with greater joy than when their grain and new wine abound.
Psalm 5:11 But let all who take refuge in you be glad; let them ever sing for joy. Spread your protection over them, that those who love your name may rejoice in you.

We choose the objects of our delight. When we choose to delight in our Heavenly Father, He fills our hearts with greater joy–joy with which nothing else can compare.

Today, I choose my delight to rest in my God in all the fullness found in His Name. I choose my delight to rest in His Word and I will meditate in it, soaking my mind with it.

Heavenly Father, I delight in You and Your Word. I love You both. Let my day be filled with an awareness and reliance on You. Let my mind be filled with the truth and wisdom of Your Word.
