It has been so great to be able to see others view points on the scriptures. I think we shoukld pick another book and read it through another month. I have enjoyed this so much. James and Romans are excellent books to study.
Thanks Peter for doing this!!!
The first thing that comes to mind with April around the corner is a study into the four Gospels, centering around Jesus’s resurrection.
I like all of the comments and would be interested in any of them. One theme I thought of that might make a good study is diving into Pride and Humility. I find myself questioning and correcting many impulses that, upon deeper reflection, have to do with my own pride. Maybe even suggesting this topic is self-serving
I am surprised by how many people I run into (and I was once this way myself) who are convinced that, “they” are the most humble person they know!
Thank you, Peter for the 28 days of ACTS. This reminds me of a system I came up with for reading through the whole New Testament which I have strayed away from over the years. Maybe this is God’s way of telling me I need to repent and do the things I did at first.
The system is reading 7 chapters of the NT daily.
1.
The GOSPELS were read per Month like MATTHEW in January, MARK in Febuary, LUKE in March, JOHN in April and the cycle repeats.
2. ACTS total 28chs
3. ROMANS (16chs) combined with HEBREW (13chs) total 29 chs
4. 1 & 2 CORINTHIANS combined total 29chs
5. THE PAULINE EPISTLES:
GALATIANS (6chs); EPHESIANS (6chs);
PHILIPIANS (4chs); COLOSIANS (4chs);
1 THESSALONIANS (5chs);
2 THESSALONIANS (3chs) total 28chs
6. THE PASTORAL EPISTLES combined with
THE GENERAL EPISTLES
-minus the EPISTLES of JOHN-
1 TIMOTHY (6chs); 2 TIMOTHY (4chs);
TITUS (3chs); PHILEMON (1ch);
JAMES (5chs); 1 PETER (5chs); 2 PETER
(3chs); JUDE (1ch) total 28chs
7. REVELATION (22 chs)combined with
the EPISTLES of JOHN: 1 JOHN (5chs)
2 JOHN (1ch); 3 JOHN (1ch) total 29chs
Select various books in New Testament and call it “30 days in John”. If you need fill in chapters choose related books in Old Testament to fill in the days. Could cover all books in New Testament over time.
I agree with both comments. I love this format. It’s a great way to say all that you want to say and then learn from each other,on my time schedule which varies day to day. As far as what to do next? I’ll be anxiously waiting
I don’t really have a subject or theme idea. I like Shannon’s question. Church History seems like a great way to share the gospel with people. Everyone knows enough about Christianity to know we are not unified, but called to be.
I like this format for study, also. In Acts 2, the church met daily together. It is impossible to do that these days, but this is the next best thing. I feel like I am getting to know people in the church better and learning from everyone.
OK- this is probably way too broad (or maybe boring for most) but, I’m really perplexed about why The Church – Jesus’ church became so divided? Why are there so many different religions? Wouldn’t we be way more effective if we were more united – as a whole? Especially after reading Acts 4 – isn’t this God’s intention for us? How did this happen and is there any way to fix it?
Just a thought… : )
