How to Participate

“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” Acts 1:8

In the space of almost 200 years the number of people who claimed to be followers of Jesus grew from around 25,000 in AD 100 to 200 million by AD 310!  Put another way: Without GMC pickups, iPhones, YouTube, etc., a collection of Christ-followers the size of Leander, Texas, reached 2/3rds of the United States of America from 1800 to 2010!

“Are you kidding me?  How’d they do that?”

Great question.  The answer, in large part, is public information.  It can be read in its entirety in three hours or less by a slow reader.  It’s all right there in the 28 short chapters of The Book of Acts–a New Testament book that informs us of the foundation that was laid by the People of God who obeyed the Word of God and lived under the control of the Spirit of God to expand the Kingdom of God.

So, “Put your seatbelt on, I wanna try something.”

28 Days In Acts is designed to take us as a church family through this remarkable God-movement of the middle years of the 1st century AD.  Together, reading the chapter corresponding to the day of the month, we will read the 28 chapters in Acts from March 1-28.

This is an “all-play” experience.  That is, we want YOU to participate.  Here’s how.

  1. Subscribe to this blog under EMAIL SUBSCRIPTION found on the right-hand side of this page. Simply type in the email address where you’d like to receive the daily reading and click on the “Sign me up!” button.
  2. Now, check your email account.  You will receive a Confirmation Email that REQUIRES ACTION ON YOUR PART to complete your sign-up.  Follow the directions on that email and you are good to go!
  3. Each morning you will receive an email with a link to the reading for that day.  During your regular time alone with God for that day, read the chapter that corresponds with that day’s date.  Example: March 5th read Acts 5.
  4. After completing the reading for that day, click on “Leave a comment” and share in two or three sentences a summary of what you heard God say to you during the reading; especially as it relates to being on mission with Him to expand His Kingdom in your community (Jerusalem), Greater Austin (Judea & Samaria), and the world (the ends of the earth).
  5. Throughout the 28 Days, be sure to read back through the comments others are sharing for additional inspiration and encouragement.

All of this is in preparation for our celebration on March 28, 2010 of our 3rd birthday as a church family.  Our desire is that by reading through Acts each of us (and thus, all of us) will be just as motivated and intentional as the disciples of the early church to make a huge impact for the Kingdom of God just like they were.

Upon this Rock,

Peter Horn
